John Mulaney Miami Concert reviews
Epic Show
Jane's addiction played extremely well this time around, performing only their strongest material, and the band sounded very tight with the original lineup. My only issue was that Perry sometimes didn't even attempt to hit the high notes, and occasionally appeared to forget his lines. However, he compensated for it with fantastic showmanship and engaging interaction with the audience. His joke about "taking a woman up to a cabin in the mountains and doing some lines" was hilarious.
John Mulaney came on stage at Fiddler's under a clouded sky and kicked off with 5 or 6 strong and loud songs. The pace slowed down a bit after that, as he delved into some of his less compelling material. Nevertheless, it was overall a solid set.
I went to this show at Fiddler's with low expectations, in part due to my previous negative experience seeing Jane's Addiction at Lollapalooza '03. However, this time was different. The performance was impressive, with both bands putting on a great show. Sitting in the 15th row center certainly enhanced the experience, possibly contributing to the exceptional sound quality, which was the best I've ever heard at that venue. Seeing two of my all-time favorite acts together was unforgettable.
